Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge on a long-term contract running until 2031. The Greek winger arrives at the Emirates for a reported £34 million fee, becoming the club’s third summer signing.
It’s a deal that’s been weeks in the making. And for anyone who’s followed Tzolis’s rise in Belgium, it feels like the right move at the right time.
The Deal and What Arsenal Are Getting
Tzolis, 24, will wear the number 17 shirt — previously held by Oleksandr Zinchenko and, before him, Alexis Sanchez. He’s already linked up with his new teammates at pre-season training.
The Greece international comes in as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who left for Besiktas earlier this month. But Arsenal aren’t simply filling a gap here. They’re upgrading.
At Club Brugge, Tzolis put together numbers that demand attention:

Sporting Director Andrea Berta didn’t hold back. He called Tzolis “an extremely versatile attacking player who naturally operates on the left but is comfortable across the front line.”
Berta added that the Greek forward will “raise the technical level” of Arsenal’s squad.

That move changed everything. Belgian journalist Tomas Taecke, who has covered Brugge since 2011, put it simply: “He’s just a very complete player who loves to run with the ball.” Taecke added that Tzolis was “by far the best” winger Brugge has had in the club’s recent run of title-winning seasons.
Can he handle the Premier League this time around? He’s a completely different player now. More mature. More clinical. More confident.
Already Sold on the Arsenal Project
Tzolis hasn’t been shy about his enthusiasm. Before the Champions League final, he publicly admitted he was supporting Arsenal and hoping for a move.
“I hope that Arsenal come for me,” he told DH Sports. “If Arsenal come, it would be a privilege for any player to play for them.”
After signing, he revealed that an hour-long conversation with Mikel Arteta sealed the deal. “We talked about everything — about the club, about myself, about his plans, about the team. It was only positive things,” Tzolis said.
He also made his ambitions clear:
“My targets are to win titles… and to have as much game time as possible with the team.”
Arteta demands defensive discipline from his wide players. Bukayo Saka, Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli — they all press and track back relentlessly. The early signs suggest Tzolis understands that. He flagged his own defensive work rate in his very first interview, a detail that won’t go unnoticed by his new manager.
