The summer transfer window rarely stays quiet for long. And right now, the biggest name on everybody’s lips is Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger has become the center of a stunning five-club transfer war. Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Liverpool have all signaled their willingness to match a €100 million bid. But there’s a twist — Diomande’s heart is set on Paris Saint-Germain, and PSG can’t seem to get the deal over the line.

Arsenal’s Winger Hunt Takes a Sharp Turn
It’s been a frustrating few weeks at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s side lost the race for Morgan Rogers after Chelsea swooped in with a staggering £117 million offer. Leandro Trossard has also departed, leaving a clear gap in the squad.
Arsenal aren’t sitting still, though. According to German outlet Bild, the Gunners are among the clubs prepared to pay €100 million for Diomande. Fabrizio Romano added further detail on his YouTube channel, confirming that Arsenal have already reached out to the player’s camp.
“Arsenal over the last few days made some checks with the agents of Yan Diomande from Red Bull Leipzig to understand if there was still a chance to enter the deal,” Romano said.
The problem? Diomande has already agreed personal terms with PSG on a contract running until 2031. That makes any hijack attempt extremely difficult — but not impossible.

Why Everyone Wants Diomande
It’s easy to see why Europe’s biggest clubs are circling. Diomande’s debut Bundesliga campaign was nothing short of extraordinary.
After joining Leipzig from Leganes for just €20 million in the summer of 2025, he posted 12 goals and eight assists in 33 league appearances. That tally made him the fourth-youngest player in Bundesliga history to hit double figures in a single season — he was just 19 years and 114 days old.
The Bundesliga recognized his impact, too. He was named Rookie of the Season, beating out Hamburg’s Luka Vuskovic and Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza. His coach, Ole Werner, was full of praise, calling him an “exceptional talent.”
Diomande carried that form onto the world stage. He started all four of Ivory Coast’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, registering an assist in 332 minutes of action before the Elephants fell to Norway in the round of 32.
He’s fast. He’s direct. He creates chances in the most dangerous zones. A scouting report from Tactical Football Analysis found that over 75% of his key passes either originated from or were delivered into the penalty area. That profile is exactly what Arteta needs on the flank.
The Roadblocks Standing in Arsenal’s Way
Even with PSG struggling, Arsenal face steep obstacles.
Leipzig don’t need to sell. Diomande is under contract until 2030 with no release clause. The club has set its price at a firm €120 million and reportedly wants a loan-back arrangement that would keep the winger in Germany for another year. PSG’s Luis Enrique has already rejected that idea, and it’s unlikely Arsenal would accept it either.
There’s also the matter of competition. Manchester City and Real Madrid are both monitoring the situation closely. Liverpool, the only club to have lodged a formal bid so far (roughly €80 million plus €20 million in add-ons, per Bild), could re-enter the race at any point — especially with Mohamed Salah’s departure leaving a void.
Red Bull chief Oliver Mintzlaff and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi were seen together at the World Cup final in New York, hinting at top-level discussions. But no breakthrough followed.
Arsenal have already secured Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a record €40 million deal. Still, sporting director Andrea Berta wants another winger. Can he pull off the signing of the summer?
This saga is far from over. Diomande is expected to report back to Leipzig training ahead of their pre-season camp in Austria, but the window doesn’t close until September. A lot can change between now and then. If PSG’s complications deepen, Arsenal are positioned and willing to pounce.
