The summer’s biggest transfer saga just got another twist. Roc Nation Sports International, the agency representing Vinicius Junior, released a fiery public statement on Sunday slamming what it called “fake and damaging” media reports about its clients.
The timing? Far from accidental. It dropped right in the middle of relentless speculation linking the Real Madrid star with a sensational move to Arsenal.
But here’s the thing — the statement didn’t actually deny anything about Arsenal.
What Did Roc Nation Actually Say?
Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports International, took to Instagram with a pointed message aimed squarely at football journalists.
He said: “Roc Nation Sports International and our entire team cannot stand idle when unprofessional and uninformed media publish fake and damaging information for attention-seeking purposes. This is especially unacceptable when it personally targets our clients without any foundation. It is disruptive, harmful, and libelous.”
The statement went further, calling on media outlets to “hold themselves more accountable.”
What it didn’t do was name Vinicius Junior. It didn’t mention Arsenal. And it didn’t deny any specific report.
That ambiguity matters.
Arsenal insider account HandofArsenal had reported days earlier that the Gunners had agreed personal terms in principle with the Brazilian. Their post even predicted the response: “We fully expect Roc Nation to deny it but we stand on our information.”

Nobody outside the inner circle knows for sure.
Where Things Stand Between Arsenal and Vinicius

- Sky Sports reported in late July that Arsenal are exploring a deal for Vinicius Junior, though no club-to-club contact had been made at that point.
- ESPN confirmed Arsenal’s interest, noting the club has been studying the feasibility of a move.
- The Week reported that Roc Nation was preparing to approach Real Madrid armed with what it described as a “monstrous offer” from the English champions.
- Reports from Spain suggest Real Madrid have adopted a “take it or leave it” stance in contract talks with Vinicius. He’s currently earning around €17 million net per season. Real offered a raise to €20 million. He reportedly wants closer to €30 million.
- Arsenal were said to be willing to offer around €550,000 per week, which would make Vinicius their highest-paid player, surpassing Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta hasn’t exactly shut the door either. Asked directly after Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season win over Girona whether Vinicius was joining, Arteta smiled, laughed, and walked away.
He then told reporters:

Why This Deal Is So Complicated
There’s a reason this hasn’t been wrapped up quickly.
Vinicius has just 12 months left on his Real Madrid contract. That puts the club in an awkward spot — accept a fee now or risk losing him for free next summer. Real Madrid’s hierarchy would rather sell than let that happen.
