Man Utd’s £30m Summerville Bid Puts Arsenal on Alert as Trossard Replacement Hunt Heats Up

Man Utd prepare £30m bid for Crysencio Summerville as Arsenal also chase the West Ham winger to replace Leandro Trossard this summer.

Arsenal Target Summerville After Trossard Exit But Man Utd Prepare £30m Offer

Arsenal’s search for a new left winger just got a lot more complicated. Manchester United are reportedly ready to table a £30m offer for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville, a player the Gunners have been tracking for weeks.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Mikel Arteta. With Leandro Trossard’s £17m move to Besiktas now finalised, Arsenal need attacking reinforcements — and they need them fast.

West Ham’s Relegation Opens the Door

Summerville’s availability stems from West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League. After 14 years in the top flight, the Hammers went down on the final day of the 2025-26 season. Despite beating Leeds 3-0, Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Everton sealed West Ham’s fate.

It was a brutal end to a dismal campaign.

Now, several key players are expected to leave the London Stadium this summer. Summerville sits at the top of that list. The 24-year-old Dutchman registered seven goals and five assists across 34 appearances last season, even as the team crumbled around him.

His stock rose even higher at the 2026 World Cup. Playing for the Netherlands, he scored twice in the group stage and contributed four goal involvements in four matches before Morocco knocked out the Oranje in the round of 32.

West Ham originally valued him at around £50m. But relegation has weakened their bargaining position. Reports from The Guardian now suggest a fee closer to £30m would get the deal done.

Why Arsenal and Man Utd Both Want Him

So why are two of England’s biggest clubs chasing the same player?

For Arsenal, it’s straightforward. Trossard’s departure to Besiktas leaves a hole on the left side of Arteta’s attack. The Belgian scored 36 goals in 174 appearances during his three years at the Emirates. That’s a significant loss.

Summerville fits the profile Arsenal are looking for:

  • Premier League experience — no adaptation period needed
  • Direct, pacy running from wide positions
  • Comfortable cutting inside or going down the line
  • Proven at international level after a strong World Cup

Arsenal reportedly made informal contact earlier this month, according to Foot Mercato. But they haven’t been alone. Tottenham, PSG, and Al Hilal have all been linked.

Then there’s Manchester United.

According to The Guardian, United’s interest in Summerville is tied directly to Marcus Rashford’s uncertain future. Barcelona chose not to trigger their £26m option on the England forward after his loan spell, and Rashford is now back at Old Trafford — but the relationship remains strained.

If Rashford leaves, United plan to move quickly for Summerville as a replacement. At £30m, he’d represent solid value for a winger who’s still just 24 and has three years left on his contract.

Arsenal’s Wider Options

Summerville isn’t Arsenal’s only target. The club have been exploring several avenues to replace Trossard and bolster their attacking depth.

Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge has been a prominent name. Sky Sports report that a deal could cost around £34m. The Greek forward had over 50 goal contributions last season, making him an intriguing option.

Morgan Rogers is also on the radar after an impressive spell at Aston Villa. Bradley Barcola of PSG has been linked too, though a move for the Frenchman would likely carry a much higher price tag.

Still, Summerville’s Premier League know-how gives him an edge. He doesn’t need time to adjust. He’s already proven he can deliver in English football — and that matters when you’re defending a league title.

Arsenal won the Premier League for the first time in 22 years last season. Arteta won’t want his squad to stand still this summer. Whether Summerville ends up at the Emirates or Old Trafford could depend on who moves first — and who offers the more convincing project.

One thing’s clear: this race is only just getting started.
