William Saliba Is Now One Of The Highest-Paid Defenders After Signing New Contract

Arsenal have officially tied down one of their most prized assets, confirming on September 30, 2025, that William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The fresh deal will keep the French centre-back at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030, solidifying his role as a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s defensive project.
Saliba’s Arsenal journey began back in 2019 when he signed a five-year contract after completing a move from French side Saint-Etienne. That deal was due to expire in the summer of 2024, but the Gunners acted early to secure his future, handing him a new five-year extension that ran until 2028.
Now, less than two years into that agreement, Arsenal have once again moved decisively to reward their defensive star.
According to The Sun, Saliba’s new contract is worth a staggering £250,000 (€286,230 / $336,530) per week, which translates to around £13 million (€14.9m / $17.5m) annually. This marks a massive step up from his previous terms. As noted in Spotrac, it represents “a significant increase of almost 100% on his previous wages.”
This new contract places Saliba among the highest-paid defenders and Arsenal players, with Kai Havertz currently leading the pack. However, that status may soon change, as Bukayo Saka’s upcoming deal is rumored to push his wages to the £300,000-per-week mark.
The pay rise is a clear reflection of Saliba’s growing influence at Arsenal, where he has developed into one of the Premier League’s most dominant defenders. His commanding presence at the back has been key to Arsenal’s recent resurgence, helping them re-establish themselves as genuine title contenders.
The move also sends a strong signal to Europe’s elite clubs, many of whom have been circling around Saliba after his rapid rise in North London. By locking him in until 2030, Arsenal have not only safeguarded their defensive leader but also demonstrated their ambition to keep their best players in the long-term.
With the now deal sealed on his lucrative new contract, Saliba’s focus now turns back to the pitch, where he’ll be expected to continue anchoring Arsenal’s defense as they chase domestic and European glory.
