Foord Fumes as Arsenal Women’s Title Hopes Take a Hammer Blow

Arsenal Women were left red-faced in the North London Derby after dominating Tottenham from start to finish, yet somehow failing to score in a frustrating 0-0 stalemate that all but kills their WSL title dream.

The Gunners peppered Spurs with attacks at Brisbane Road, owning the stats, the ball, and the tempo. But not the goals. A stubborn Tottenham defence parked the bus, locked the doors, and threw away the key.

Caitlin Foord didn’t bother hiding her anger after the final whistle, admitting the draw felt like a gut punch.

It is frustrating. We came here to get the three points. Everyone worked to try to do that and we just were not able to do it today.”

But credit the Spurs. They made it difficult. They got numbers back and we just could not find the end product today.”

Just one goal goes in and then there will be a few more to follow. But we could have done with a little bit of luck, something to fall our way. But we were not able to get it today. So, all down to Wednesday now.”

The result piles even more pressure on Renée Slegers, with Arsenal now winless in three and scoring just three wins in their last ten across all competitions. For a team that lifted the Champions League last season after beating Barcelona, this campaign has been nothing short of chaotic.

And things are only getting tougher. Real Madrid await on Wednesday in a must-win Champions League clash after damaging defeats to OL Lyon and Bayern Munich left the Gunners hanging by a thread.

As the women’s side stutter, fans will now pin their hopes on Arsenal’s men to restore pride when they face Spurs next Sunday at the Emirates.
