Bukayo Saka Eases Injury Fears Ahead of North London Derby After England Heroics
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has shut down panic over a possible injury after sending England fans wild with a spectacular volley against Serbia, and giving Gunners supporters a brief heart attack in the process.
The winger lit up a rainy Wembley on Thursday, smashing in a brilliant 28th-minute strike after Nico O’Reilly’s deflected effort dropped perfectly at his feet. But celebrations quickly turned into panic when Saka appeared to move awkwardly and gestured toward the bench, sparking fears he had picked up a knock just days before the huge North London Derby.
Those worries didn’t last long.
Not only did Saka finish the full 90 minutes, but he later revealed the truth behind the scare, and it couldn’t be more harmless. Speaking to ITV, he explained: “No, I just wanted to change my boots. That was it.”

The goal continued Saka’s rapid rise on the international stage, taking his tally to 14 goals in 46 caps and answering Thomas Tuchel’s call for more firepower from the Arsenal talisman. His strike followed another beauty against Wales last month, proving he’s becoming one of England’s deadliest threats.
After the match, Saka praised the team’s perfect qualifying run, saying:
“I think it was a performance we can be proud of. We got the win in the end and we played well.”
On whether it was his cleanest-ever England volley, he laughed:
“Maybe… it was top two though. It was a nice strike and I was happy it went in.”
Saka also impressed again on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 62nd minute and helping create England’s opener in a 2–0 win over Albania.
With Tottenham looming, Arsenal fans can relax: their star man isn’t injured, he’s in red-hot form and ready for battle.
