Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believe this could finally be Arsenal’s season to lift the Premier League title, and insists they won’t need to reach record-breaking heights to do it.
Speaking on the Gunners’ title credentials, Neville expressed confidence that Mikel Arteta’s men have what it takes to go all the way after narrowly missing out last year.
“This has got to be their year; I’ve had Arsenal to win the league the last three years – now four,” Neville said, reaffirming his long-standing belief in the team’s potential.
While some fans and pundits have questioned whether Arsenal have improved significantly from last season, Neville argued that consistency, not perfection, will be the decisive factor this time around.
“They aren’t miles better than last year but are repeating levels of consistency and that’s all they are going to have to do this year to win the league,” he added.
Neville went on to make a striking prediction about the points total needed to clinch the title, suggesting that this season’s race won’t require the kind of near-flawless performance seen in recent years from Manchester City.
“They aren’t going to have to get 100 points, or even 90. High 80s will win the title – they can do that,” said the former England international.
With Arsenal currently displaying the resilience and composure needed to stay at the top, Neville’s comments add further fuel to the growing belief that this might finally be Arteta’s year to deliver the Premier League trophy back to north London.
