Eberechi Eze and Riccardo Calafiori React After Arsenal’s 2-2 Draw at Sunderland
Arsenal’s hard-fought 2-2 draw away at Sunderland left mixed emotions among players and fans alike, frustration at missed chances, yet pride in maintaining their Premier League lead heading into the international break.
Speaking after the game, Eberechi Eze reflected on the team’s mentality and resilience. “The message is that we did what we needed to do,” he said, highlighting the determination within the squad. “To put in the performance that we did is serious. Not many teams will get points here.”
The Gunners were twice pegged back by a spirited Sunderland side but showed their composure to avoid defeat in a challenging away fixture. For Eze, the focus remains clear despite the setback.
“We keep our heads on, keep better perspective and know that we’re going to come back from the international break top of the league, and we’ve got to keep going and keep pushing.”

Defender Riccardo Calafiori echoed that positive outlook, stressing the importance of perspective and consistency as the season intensifies. “We are top of the league so we must be happy at least, we need to think about that,” he said.
“We need to think about the next game which will be tough, and actually many games that will be tough in the next few months. So, we are fully focused and I’m proud of my team so far.”
With Arsenal still leading the title race, the draw at the Stadium of Light serves as both a reminder of the league’s competitiveness and a testament to the squad’s growing maturity under pressure. As Eze and Calafiori noted, the belief inside the camp remains strong, and the Gunners’ eyes are firmly set on the bigger prize ahead.
