Cristiano Ronaldo has fired a major warning shot to the rest of the Premier League; Arsenal are the real deal this season.
The football icon believes Mikel Arteta’s red-hot Gunners have everything it takes to finally end their 21-year title drought. His verdict comes after Arsenal thrashed Slavia Prague 3–0 in the Champions League, extending their incredible winning streak to ten games in all competitions and keeping their perfect European record intact.
Captain Bukayo Saka led by example, slotting home a cool penalty after a VAR-confirmed handball, before Mikel Merino bagged a second-half brace to seal another ruthless performance from the league leaders.
Arsenal’s dominance hasn’t gone unnoticed. Piers Morgan hailed their “impregnable defence” after their eighth straight clean sheet, a record that dates all the way back to 1903. With new signings like Martin Zubimendi and Eberechi Eze shining, Arsenal now look stronger, hungrier, and more complete than ever.
Currently six points clear at the top, the Gunners could stretch that gap even further this weekend, right as Manchester City and Liverpool prepare to battle it out.
And now, even Cristiano Ronaldo is backing them. When asked by Morgan if this could finally be Arsenal’s year, Ronaldo didn’t hesitate:
“Could be,” Ronaldo said. “It’s possible. I think the PL, the level of the teams is very, very similar, the top ones. The Premier League, you never know what’s going to happen because it’s a very tough league.”
“It’s possible for Arsenal. [Will they?!] Probably. They can do it. It’s possible. Let’s see.”
Coming from one of football’s greatest ever winners, that’s as close to a blessing as it gets.
