The Premier League’s most exciting young striker isn’t going anywhere this summer. At least, that’s what Bournemouth keep saying. But when Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona and Manchester City all come calling, how long can any club really hold firm?
Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd weighed in on the saga today, suggesting Eli Junior Kroupi would be a strong fit at either north London club. He also warned that Bournemouth won’t let him go cheaply.
It’s easy to see why half of Europe is chasing a 20-year-old who scored 13 Premier League goals in his debut top-flight season.
Why Every Big Club Wants Kroupi
Kroupi’s numbers tell a ridiculous story. Signed from Lorient for around £10 million in February 2025, he returned to the Ligue 2 club on loan and finished as the division’s top scorer with 22 goals in 30 games.
Then came the Premier League.
In 2025-26, he netted 13 league goals from just 1,683 minutes. His conversion rate of 39.3% led the entire division among players with 10 or more goals, according to Sofascore. He outperformed his expected goals by a healthy margin, too.
He’s clinical, mobile and press-ready. Former boss Andoni Iraola described him simply: “Junior is a finisher. He smells the opportunities.”
Not bad for a teenager who was playing French second-tier football 18 months ago.
Here’s what makes Kroupi so appealing:

- Versatile — can play as a centre-forward or left winger
- France Under-21 international with a rising profile
- Already scored home and away against Arsenal last season
- Led the Premier League in conversion rate during his debut campaign
The North London Battle
Tottenham aren’t messing around this summer. Under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs have already spent £237 million on Jan Paul van Hecke (£52m), Mateus Fernandes (£85m) and Sandro Tonali (£100m). They want Kroupi next.
The Independent reported that Spurs are willing to meet Bournemouth’s £80 million-plus asking price. De Zerbi reportedly sees the Frenchman as his top forward target.
Multiple sources confirmed Kroupi has signalled a willingness to move to Spurs, and his agent hasn’t ruled out a summer departure.
Arsenal’s interest is quieter but real. BBC Sport reported the Gunners’ interest earlier this summer, and sporting director Andrea Berta has already made enquiries, per ReadArsenal. With Leandro Trossard heading to Besiktas, Mikel Arteta needs attacking reinforcements.
The question for Arsenal? Whether Kroupi is ready for the pressure of a title race right now.
Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre told FOX Sports that Arsenal would be “a different fish” for the young Frenchman compared to Bournemouth’s more relaxed environment.
PSG, once seen as strong rivals in the race, have reportedly stepped aside. Barcelona remain interested but are prioritising Julian Alvarez from Atletico, according to FootballTransfers.
Bournemouth’s Brick Wall
Here’s where things get tricky. Bournemouth don’t want to sell. They don’t need to sell. And they’ve made that very clear.
Club president Tiago Pinto didn’t leave much room for interpretation back in May. He stated publicly that the club wouldn’t sell Kroupi even for offers of €100 million.
Since then, that stance has only hardened. Per Marca, Kroupi has been formally designated “non-transferable.” Bournemouth have communicated this directly to the player, his family and his representatives.
Why the firm stance? Bournemouth are heading into their first-ever European campaign after finishing sixth. New manager Marco Rose wants his strongest squad available. And after selling Semenyo, Kerkez, Huijsen and Zabarnyi in recent windows, the Cherries are tired of being viewed as a development club.
Can anyone actually break through? It feels unlikely before September. But football has a funny way of proving everyone wrong. If Spurs or Arsenal table something north of £100 million, even the strongest convictions get tested.
For now, Kroupi stays on the south coast. But this story is far from over.
